Hi, I’m Jodie! Sydney-based designer, founder of Deer Ruby, and mum to one awesome little guy.

Deer Ruby began with a simple goal: to create jewellery that feels personal, meaningful, and made with heart. What started with handcrafted necklaces at the kitchen table has evolved into a lifestyle brand rooted in storytelling, sentiment, and slow design.

Fashion Roots, Creative Heart

My background is in fashion design and patternmaking, and by the age of 18, I’d opened the first of three successful children’s boutiques. Design has always been part of my world, whether it was sketching garments or handcrafting keepsakes for friends.

Jewellery was my creative escape, and when a major retailer asked me to design a custom range, Deer Ruby was born.

From Jewellery to Lifestyle

After a break spent living, travelling, and gathering inspiration, I returned to Australia ready to rebuild, but with a slower, more thoughtful approach. Today, Deer Ruby pieces are handmade in Bali by a family-run business I’ve worked with for over a decade.

In 2017, we rebranded with a focus on personalised jewellery, and more recently, we’ve expanded into apparel, including embroidered jackets and timeless wardrobe staples that carry the same heart and intention as our jewellery.

A New Chapter

We’ve moved into new offices, opened our first storefront in Marrickville, and continue to grow with creativity, care, and community at our core.
